skeletal printout

1. junk-culture.com 2. blk-out.tumblr
These may not be, but they look a lot like objects made from a #D printer. So cool. I have a ring that I bought from nervoussystem on etsy (eg: http://www.etsy.com/listing/56703229/2-layer-center-ring-white-or-black-3d) which looks similar and fascinates me. Oh... there's so many cool things in the world...

etsy faves

I could spend days on etsy. I love the stuff on the site and the way the site works. You can find one thing you like, then search that shop, that site's favourites, other people's sites who also love the item... a never ending trail of inspiration. Here is a quick screen-grab of some of my current faves. So pretty.

balmes babies (2010)

What a beautiful movie. Babies from USA, Mongolia, Japan and Africa. No other movie I've seen warrants so many "ooh"s and "aaah"s. Here are a few scenes below.

stop animal cruelty

Many aussies will know about the recent hype around live cattle export (to Indonesia in particular), and the 4 corners special that aired on the subject. I only watched one short video online and it had me so upset watching the treatment of this poor cow named Dudley. I am aware that some people view cattle as dumb, but some people are also dumb, it doesn't change the way they feel pain. All living things feel emotion, and justifying animal torture because of economics or political reasons is sickening. I think that as humans it is our responsibility to look after animals and nature, not to exploit and abuse it.
I normally try to post beautiful, inspiring things, but try as I might, there are some things I just can't ignore.
If you want to sign the petition against live animal exports, go here: http://www.banliveexport.com/

melbourne

We just had a lovely weekend in Melbourne. Had to leave the bubba at home at the last minute, so it turned into a romantic walking tour of the city. There's so much great art hidden in the little lane ways. 'Ava look below:

Sia, I love you!

I love your sound. Every time I hear it it reaches inside and grabs at something. A heart string perhaps? Not sure, but it can make me smiley and it can make me teary, all at once.
Love the sound and the general kookiness.

romping in a jumpsuit

jumping in a romper

pic1: http://sandraevaldsson.se 2nd & 3rd pics - not sure where they came from...

On hot days like these, the breezy easy of an all-in-one is very appealing.
In fact most days it's an ideal option for someone like me. Someone who is so busy working and chasing after her 2 year old that she barely has time to dress herself.
Sometimes mums dress their babies to look like teeny tiny adults - eg 0000 sized denim jeans with buttons and combat pockets, collared shirts and hair accessories.
I on the other hand, prefer to dress myself like a baby. One soft fleecy item, and I'm good to go.
It's funny. I can spend hours looking at other people's blogs about the effort they put into dressing themselves daily, but can't seem to find the time to wash my hair or find a belt (let alone one that matched my outfit).

crossed wires

A girl at work had this book on an awesome artist called Charlie Harper. Immediately I went online to have a look for some images, and I was inundated with Charlie Sheen pics. Turns out Charlie Harper is the name of his character in 'Two and a half men'. Coincidently, there's another Harper/Artist/Sitcom crossover with Ben Harper in 'My Family'.

I watch you walk in your soft men's shoes

The first image is from: http://artandghosts.typepad.com/. The shoes are a Dr Martens / Stussy collaboration.
Theres something about a pair of desert boots that fill a little void in my inspirational heart. Possibly it traces back to the first pair of Rollers I had. Every time I put them on, I relished the moment. And I'm talking about a rather ugly pair of mens shoes, really. There''s also a vivid memory of those Clarks desert boots back in the day, I would watch the feet of the kids who wore them intensely. The gummy sole looked SO comfy. Were they called moon boots?
Is it normal to feel so impacted by these shoey moments in life? Don't even get me started on what my desire for a pair of kung fu slippers from the asian 'thuc pham a chao tan hong phat' on the corner did to me. I memorised the name of the shop for one thing. How can a pair of $8 slip ons mean so much to a girl of 10?
